What you need to know about Dildos.

Posted by Bliss Team on

Dildos seem simple right? But then again maybe there is more to this sex toy then you think. So, here is a comprehensive look at dildos.

Did you know that the world's oldest known dildo is a siltstone 20-centimeter phallus from the Upper Palaeolithic period 30,000 years ago that was found in Hohle Fels Cave near Ulm Germany. Findings of the archaeologists show that ancient Egyptians used dildos 2500 years ago. Also, these sex toys were used by ancient Greeks. So, let’s learn a little more about the oldest sex toy.

A few handy hints before we start;

Hint number 1, start small. If you are new to dildo’s and we are assuming that you are, start small. If something looks impressive in the store and you cannot wait to get it home to try and then you realise it is a little too big to be comfortable let alone pleasurable. It is ok to start small, have some fun and then try something larger.

Hint number 2, you can use the number of fingers you can comfortably insert as a sizing guide.

Hint number 3, knowing what kind of vaginal stimulation you like is a great way to know which dildo shapes, types and materials.

Now onto the types of dildo’s;

  • The basic dildo – a great starter, great for beginners. It will give you a taste of the fun that a dildo can be without going too extreme. Something like the Amor by Fun Factory.

  • G-spot Dildo – a curved dildo with a bulbous end. They are designed to hit the G-spot, the spongy bit of tissue on the front wall of the vagina. They are also great for prostate play as well. A lovely G-spot dildo is the Ella G Spot Dildo.

  • Textured Dildo’s – These dildo’s are designed for extra stimulation of the vaginal opening that is sensitive to stimulation. If you like the feeling of a toy moving in and out of the body or a thrusting motion then a dildo like the Bouncer by Fun Factory

  • Realistic Dildo’s – Have a realistic shape and styling also provides a little fantasy play. Some have testicles in the design but for us at Bliss, we do not stock dildo’s like this.

  • Suction Cup Dildo’s – Come in all different shapes and styles, and the really fun part is that you can stick it to any smooth surface. If you’re the one who tends to like to do the thrusting or if you like anal play this might be the right pick for you. We have a few realistic style dildo’s that stick to the wall with a suction cup but you should also check out the Fun Factory dildo’s in our main shop as they will also stick to a smooth surface.

  • Strap on compatible dildo’s – If you like strap on sex than a strap on compatible dildo is for you. They have a large, round base, which holds it into the O-ring of a strap-on harness. These dildos work can be used with or without a dildo. The Fun Factory range of dildo’s in our shop are perfect for this.

  • Double-ended dildo’s – Are two-sided, and typically offers a different shape or texture on each side. These are great for couples play and for people who like options.

Then the next thing to cover is the materials that dildo’s are made of;

1.   Silicone is material that the dildo’s in our main store are made of and the most common and versatile on the market. It is body-safe, durable and easy to clean.

2.   Glass is durable, body-safe and easy to clean. Glass gives a more intense in terms of sensation and can be great for temperature play.

3.    Wood is a less common dildo material they are often beautiful, handmade, are easily cleaned and body-safe thanks to a special coating.

4.   Metal dildos are heavy, virtually indestructible and designed to deliver a pretty intense experience. Not for everyone, due to the firmness of the material they tend to create strong sensations. Some people love the weight of them and they are body safe and are also great for temperature play. We stock Njoy stainless steel products in our store and these are amazing.
